Community
Major Festivals and Events Program
Hawaii is well positioned to take full advantage of its heritage and community pride in order to provide both visitors and residents activities, events and opportunities which express the fabric of a community while adding value to the visitors' experience. Major festivals help us to provide these experiences. Additionally, festival activities are strategically positioned during normally soft or "valley" periods to allure visitors to travel during these times of the year.
Festivals that portray the diversity and culture of Hawaii and enhance Hawaii’s visitor experience and enrich residents quality of life have been identified. These select festivals and events are used to stimulate neighbor island travel, attract residents and a significant number of visitors to the state.
HTA has identified these festivals that have met the above criteria:
- Hawaii International Film Festival, Oahu
- Honolulu Festival, Oahu
- Koloa Plantation Days Festival, Kauai
- Maui Film Festival, Maui
- Pan Pacific Festival, Oahu
- Kona Coffee Cultural Festival, Hawaii
County Product Enrichment Program
In partnership with each of the four counties of Hawaii, the HTA funds a County Product Enrichment Program (CPEP).
The county partners are responsible for the day-to-day management of the program, including the review and evaluation of proposals, contracting with individual entities, and in-county monitoring of the projects. The program results include more efficient and effective use of HTA and County funds and resources, more local control, direction and management, and better oversight and support of awardees.
In general, requests for proposals (RFP) are announced in late summer / early fall for projects occurring in the following calendar year. Interested applicants should contact the appropriate county office for a proposal packet as application forms and deadline dates may differ for each county.
