Major Festivals + Events Program

Hawaii is well positioned to take full advantage of its heritage and community pride in order to provide both visitors and residents activities, events and opportunities which express the fabric of a community while adding value to the visitors' experience. Major festivals help us to provide these experiences. Additionally, festival activities can be positioned during normally soft or "valley" periods for the visitor industry adding to the allure of Hawaii.

The primary differences between Product Enrichment Program activities and the Major Festivals and Events Program are:

Festivals of Hawaii
  • Major Festivals and Events engender significant attendance, attracting visitors to Hawaii specifically to attend the festival; and
  • Major Festivals and Events provide opportunities for significant marketing activity outside of and within Hawaii – before, during and following the festival.

  • In 2008, HTA announced its partnership with the International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA), the premiere association supporting and enabling festival and event professionals worldwide, to present their CFEE (Certified Festival & Event Executive) professional certification program in Hawai'i.
