Product Development Program
Definition
The tourism product consists of all elements – physical, experiential and emotional – that contribute to a destination's experience.
Our Product Development Vision
To realize Hawaii's potential as a great place to live and to visit by ensuring that our rich cultural heritage and resources are enhanced, preserved, perpetuated and promoted in a manner that is economically and environmentally sound, and culturally and socially sensitive.
Our Product Development Goals
To support the overall HTA mission and goal by expanding, enriching, and diversifying Hawaii's tourism product. And, more specifically:
- To inspire a shared vision of sustainable tourism through increased education, awareness and involvement of Hawaii's entire community.
- To broaden the role of the PDP to enable proactive and innovative approaches to address issues and concerns affecting Hawaii's visitor industry and, more specifically, Hawaii's tourism product.
- To develop new and improve existing partnerships to increase the effectiveness, efficiency, quantity and quality of tourism product activities and programs throughout the State.
- To foster the perpetuation and preservation of Hawaii's host culture, the one element of Hawaii's tourism product that is globally unique.
- To ensure adequate resources – people, money and time – are dedicated to enhancing and enriching Hawaii's tourism product.
One of HTA's objectives is to ensure that the Hawaii experience is competitive, keeping pace with consumers' changing desires and expectations. Equally important, our product must be in line with our community's values about Hawaii, including beliefs about sustaining the environment and the culture. To that end, HTA invests in our product to keep Hawaii contemporary, unique and fresh for our visitors while focusing on the quality of life for our residents.
