HTA Extends Mahalo to Visitor Industry for Successful 2011

The HTA would like to offer a sincere mahalo to members of our visitor industry, stakeholders and marketing partners  for their hard work and dedication, contributing to an outstanding 2011 with annual visitor expenditures in Hawaii rising to $12.58 billion, and a record breaking December with $1.298 billion in visitor spending.

“This enormous success could not have been achieved without the dedication of the men and women that support our visitor industry,” said Mike McCartney, president and CEO, Hawaii Tourism Authority. “Tourism continues to provide more than 150,000 jobs in our state and those hard-working individuals help to create an unforgettable experience for our visitors. We will continue to work together with our marketing partners and the visitor industry to sustain the momentum we saw last year and achieve steady growth for another great year.”

DIACRITICALS

HawaiiTourismAuthority.org recognizes the use of diacritical markings of the (modern) Hawaiian language including the `okina [`] or glottal stop and the kahakō [ō] or macron (e.g., in place names of Hawai`i such as Lāna'i). However, you may notice these diacritical markings have been omitted throughout the website to ensure the best online experience for our visitors. HawaiiTourismAuthority.org recognizes the importance of using these markings to preserve the language and culture of Hawaii and respectfully uses them in all communications beyond the online platform.
