More than 800 Attend Concert to Support Relief Efforts in Japan

The Aloha for Japan campaign continued its efforts to offer financial assistance and support to the regions in Japan that are still recovering from the devastating tsunami and earthquake that struck in March. Donations continue to pour in through the sale of the Aloha for Japan T-shirts and stickers, various events and collection points throughout the state.

On June 26, Aloha for Japan presented the Aloha Heaven in Hawaii Concert at the Hawaii Convention Center. More than 800 attendees, including members of the Sendai Gakuen group who were traveling to Oahu through a relief effort, came to see Jake Shimabukuro, Jeff Peterson, Konishiki, Makana, Manoa DNA, Maunalua, Na Leo, Natalie Ai Kamauu, Ohta-san and Pali perform.

It will take time for Japan to fully heal from the earthquake and tsunami, but the people of Hawaii will continue to support them. Aloha for Japan will continue to accept donations and support the people of Japan. For more information, please click here.

DIACRITICALS

HawaiiTourismAuthority.org recognizes the use of diacritical markings of the (modern) Hawaiian language including the `okina [`] or glottal stop and the kahakō [ō] or macron (e.g., in place names of Hawai`i such as Lāna'i). However, you may notice these diacritical markings have been omitted throughout the website to ensure the best online experience for our visitors. HawaiiTourismAuthority.org recognizes the importance of using these markings to preserve the language and culture of Hawaii and respectfully uses them in all communications beyond the online platform.
