American Association of Orthodontists Brings more than 14,500 to Hawaii

The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) returned to Hawaii from May 4-8 for its 112th Annual Session, the largest meeting of 2012 for the Hawaii Convention Center. More than 14,500 attendees from 65 countries, including 400 delegates from the Pacific Rim region, gathered  to attend the Annual Session, which also offered post-conference educational meetings on Oahu, Maui and Kauai.

“The post educational meetings on Maui and Kauai will allow AAO attendees and their families more opportunities to experience the beauty and rich culture of the Hawaiian Islands, along with the aloha spirit of our people,” said Mike McCartney, president and CEO, HTA. “Conferences such as the AAO generate invaluable worldwide exposure for Hawaii, and the additional events on various islands further distribute the benefits of these important meetings throughout the state."

The AAO conference is expected to generate more than $68 million in state revenue with 116,600 hotel room nights.
