HTA Board News
The HTA is pleased to welcome Craig Nakamura to its Board of Directors. Nakamura is a practicing attorney with Carlsmith Ball LLP on Maui and currently serves on the board of Kapalua Maui Charities and Wailuku Heights Community Association, among others. Nakamura replaces Kyoko Kimura, managing director of Hotel Wailea, who has served on the HTA board as the Maui County representative since 2003.
“We are pleased to have Craig Nakamura join the HTA board. He understands the importance of Hawaii as a tourism economy and will bring his expertise, experiences and perspective to the HTA,” said Mike McCartney, president and CEO of the HTA. “On behalf of the HTA board and staff, we would also like to thank Kyoko Kimura for her dedication and commitment to the HTA, the Hawaii visitor industry and our community.”
Kimura has been on the HTA Board of Directors since 2003 having served as the chair of the Strategic Planning Standing Committee to develop the Hawaii Tourism Strategic Plan: 2005-2015 and the Hawaii Tourism Authority Strategic Plan: 2010-2012. Her role on the board was essential in assisting the HTA in taking action to stabilize our visitor industry during tough economic times.
