Kauai Marathon Contributes More Than $1.98 Million in Visitor Spending

The Kauai Marathon was held Sept. 4 on the island of Kauai.  The event included a full marathon, half marathon and relay. Nearly 2,000 runners participated in this year’s event, representing 47 states and 13 countries, and contributing to more than $1.98 million in visitor spending. This is the first year the HTA is supporting this important event.

The Kauai Marathon and Half Marathon starts in Poipu, located at the southern end of Kauai, and offers runners a view of scenic coastlines, magnificent views of the island’s picturesque beaches, rugged volcanic peaks and green tropical rain forests. Runners pass through Lawai before climbing to the top of Kalaheo, gradually descending back down to Poipu Beach to complete the race. The 2012 race will be held on September 2.
