Working Together to Build Hawaii’s Workforce Future
Lead, Expose, Inspire (LEI) is a new HTA-sponsored workforce development project to inspire Hawaii’s youth to select careers in the Hawaii visitor industry by providing them with the necessary means to achieve success. ClimbHI, a non-profit organization, has partnered with the HTA in the creation of LEI, which will focus on creating programs that expose students to the hospitality industry through interactions with members of Hawaii’s hospitality industry.
The program will include teaching students about preparing both job and college applications and understanding requirements, providing the opportunity to explore and learn about a business in Hawaii’s hospitality industry, and a job fair for students to network with the organizations participating in LEI.
The one-day program is targeting 300 Oahu high school students to participate in the first year, which is scheduled for April 25, 2012.
The HTA strives to ensure that meaningful careers and advancement opportunities are provided for Hawaii’s workforce and is requesting support from Hawaii’s visitor and hospitality industries to help make this program a success for Hawaii’s youth. If you are able to assist by offering your business as a location for students to learn and explore, participate in the job fair or volunteer, please contact Julie Morikawa at 808-206-2853, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
