Australia's Top Breakfast Show Broadcasts Live from Hawaii

Hawaii Tourism Oceania (HTO) worked in partnership with Australia’s top morning show SUNRISE to promote Hawaii to its 2.9 million viewers. HTO and the show collaborated with industry partners including Jetstar Airways, Flight Centre and Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort to coordinate the week-long shoot.

“This truly was an incredible opportunity for our market and perfect timing with all of our increases in airlift,” said Ashlee Galea, country manager, HTO. “We expect this to generate a great result in terms of future bookings to the Hawaiian Islands.”

HTO ensured that all islands were featured, including weather segments on Maui and Hawaii Island, a wedding for the couple who won the “Get Hitched in Hawaii” competition on Oahu, and an exclusive birthday experience on Kauai for one of the anchors.

As part of this promotion, SUNRISE also brought 130 viewers to be part of the live audience and enjoy activities on Oahu. These experiences were recorded and shown during the week as a “highlights reel.” In addition to the 130 viewers, SUNRISE flew in four internationally renowned artists to perform on the beach including Carly Rae Jepsen, Guy Sebastian, G.R.L. and Justice Crew.

DIACRITICALS

HawaiiTourismAuthority.org recognizes the use of diacritical markings of the (modern) Hawaiian language including the `okina [`] or glottal stop and the kahakō [ō] or macron (e.g., in place names of Hawai`i such as Lāna'i). However, you may notice these diacritical markings have been omitted throughout the website to ensure the best online experience for our visitors. HawaiiTourismAuthority.org recognizes the importance of using these markings to preserve the language and culture of Hawaii and respectfully uses them in all communications beyond the online platform.
